Bernie Torme
"Electric Gypsies"
Retro Wrek Records
|
In the course
of his career as a highly rated guitarist, Bernie Torme has played with
some of the biggest names in rock including ex Deep Purple singer Ian
Gillan's band Gillan and ex Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne. Bernie
joined Gillan in 1979 at a time when Ian's career was in the doldrums.
Gillan with Torme on guitar however quickly established themselves as
a major international rock act, touring extensively and with great success
throughout the UK, Europe, Japan and the USA and releasing many chart
albums and singles. Bernie has also played with Atomic Rooster as well
as working extensively with ex Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider on
his Desperado, Widowmaker and solo projects as well as contributing
songs to the soundtrack of Dee's recent film, "Strangeland." Bernie
formed the Electric Gypsies on his departure from Gillan and though
he has recorded and toured with various line ups of the Electric Gypsies
on many occasions since, these are the first live recordings. "Scorched
Earth" was culled from many recordings made over the 1999/2001 period...it
displays Bernie's absolute mastery of his 60's stratocaster and marshall
amp in its natural live habitat, untroubled by studio sleight of hand,
backed only by the solid rhythm section of Anti Nowhere League's JJ
Pearce on bass and Simon Jeffrey on drums. The CD contains re-works
of material stretching over Bernie's career, right up to his recent
White Trash Guitar album as well as previously unrecorded material.
