Sonny Vincent
"The Good, The Bad,
The Ugly"
(Acetate Records)
|
At a time
when today's punk rock bands and fans are discovering or rediscovering
earlier musical influences and legends, the new release by Sonny Vincent,
"The Good, The Bad, The Ugly," emerges like untapped gold. Vincent,
vocalist and one time leader of New York City's original punk band,
The Testors, has played and toured with musicians from seminal bands
including The Velvet Underground, The Dead Boys, The Cramps, Suicide
and The Stooges. His previous solo efforts have featured impressive
line ups with ex members of The Replacements and Husker Du. "The Good,
The Bad, The Ugly" is a punk masterpiece. Joining Vincent (on vocals)
on this album are Scott Asheton on drums (The Stooges) and Captain Sensible
(The Damned) on bass. Guest guitar appearances on the 14 track CD read
like the definitive A list of Detroit, NYC, London and Los Angeles musicians.
Wayne Kramer (MC5), Scott Morgan (Sonic Rendezvous), Walture Lure (Heartbreakers),
Robert Quine and Ivan Julian (Richard Hell and the Voidoids), Richard
Lloyd (Television), Brian James (Damned/Lords of the New Church), Bob
Andrews (Generation X), Javier Escavedo (The Zeros), Cliff Roman (The
Weirdos), Kim Shattuck (The Muffs), Thurston Moore and Jim O'Rourke
(Sonic Youth) and newcomers Jimmy James (The Hangmen), Tony Fate (The
Bellrays) and Dave James (The Superbees).
