Joe Stump"Shredology"
Disc two is the legendary live "Midwest Shredfest." This official bootleg showcases Joe's amazing live abilities that proves his insane guitar playing is not some sort of studio trickery. While the recording quality, like most bootlegs, may not be the absolute best, Joe and his band leave no doubt to their virtuosity. Joe Stump burst upon the guitar scene in 1993 with his debut release, "Guitar Dominance." What followed was a stream of over the top guitar CD's, "Night Of The Living Shred" (1994), "Supersonic Shred Machine" (1996), "Rapid Fire Rondo" (1998), "2001: A Shred Odyssey" (2001) and "Armed & Ready" (2003). Plus, Joe also found time to record four CD's with his vocal group The Reign Of Terror. The "Midwest Shredfest" disc was recorded during one of Joe's many tours. This particular show was recorded in Cincinnati, Ohio. Joe's live band on this CD featured bassist Jay Rigney and drummer Matt Scurfield, both formerly of the prog metal masters Event. Listening to the studio tracks of "Shredology," it's easy to see the transition of Joe from an extremely talented guitarist to a really unbelievable guitarist. While Joe certainly has the technique that is unsurpassed in guitardom, he also has a very fine sense of melody from his years of studying classical music. Joe lists some of his main influences as Bach, Mozart, Paganini, Beethoven and Vivaldi. This collection of Joe Stump guitar music undoubtedly marks a milestone in the history of extreme guitar. |
