Ronnie James
Dio has a catalog of classic albums under his belt, a recording career
that spans over decades and a status in the metal world that is nothing
short of legendary. After the release of the 2000 concept album "Magica,"
the rock 'n' roll wizard returns with his 10th studio album under his
eponymous moniker in "Killing The Dragon." "His soulful approach, coupled
with his unique style and songwriting ability set Ronnie James Dio apart
from the rest of the pack," says Spitfire Records founder and president
Paul Bibeau. "Fellow musicians have moved mountain and earth to work
with him. In my opinion, he is the greatest hard rock/heavy metal singer
ever, without question." Dio's "Killing The Dragon" returns to the vintage
cornerstones of the Dio cannon. The haunted opening of the title track
reminds us of the sound Dio created in his days with Rainbow and Black
Sabbath. The anthemic "Rock & Roll" breaks new ground with the industrial
stomping guitar of newcomer Doug Aldrich. Simon Wright returns on drums
and the gratifying realization of his presence is showcased in the crispy
backbeats of "Guilty." With this line up intact, Dio has crafted yet
another timeless and unparalleled gift to the heavy metal lexicon.
