"7: The Best Of Stryper"
(Hollywood Records)

In tribute to one of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time, Hollywood Records is releasing "7: The Best Of Stryper," an 18 track set of remastered fan favorites plus two brand new songs. The album celebrates the m ulti-platinum career of Stryper as they approach the 20th anniversary of their debut disc, "The Yellow & Black Attack."

"7: The Best Of Stryper" features a plethora of 80's hits, including top 20 smash "Honestly," "Reach Out," "Soldiers Under Command," "Shining Star" and many more, along with two brand new songs, "Something" and "For You," recorded specifically for this special collection. The new tracks saw all four members of Stryper together in the studio for the first time in 12 years.

"Recording those songs was a lot of fun," says vocalist/guitarist Michael Sweet. "We were all a little rusty and a bit nervous, but we prayed throughout and it turned out great. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. It was like picking up where we left off."

No index of classic metal groups would be complete without the inclusion of Stryper, whose sound was a heavenly blend of harmonic shine and head banging guitars. In terms of total presentation...looks, hooks and riffs...Stryper towered above the competition with an energy and style that was theirs alone. More importantly, the openly Christian quartet of vocalist Michael Sweet, his drumming half brother Robert, guitarist Oz Fox and bassist Tim Gaines offered salvation to rock fans roasting in a cliche ridden metal hell. They sang sing-a-long songs of faith, hope and love and audiences, both Christian and secular, listened religiously. That gave Stryper's greatest work, including multi-platinum albums "In God We Trust" and "To Hell With The Devil," a power few have equaled. Said Rolling Stone, "Stryper is a major influence on modern Christian music...they dared to stray from the formulatic pop and singer/songwriter styles that typified the genre."
