Slavemachine"Disfigured Consciousness"
Formed in the later part of 1999, North Carolina's aggressive metal outfit Slavemachine crashed stages as a four piece that immediately started blowing up the club circut with an intense, agro-metal sound. The buzz caught the ear of Jagermeister's Adam Grayer who signed the band to their coveted Jager-Music program with a full sponsorship. Many high profile shows followed with Anthrax, Lacuna Coil, Motograter, DoubleDrive, Dog Fashion Disco and more. A 2003 showcase at the Atlantis Music Conference and the independent release of their debut album, "Disfigured Consciousness," made the buzz on them even more intense. "Digfigured Consciousness" was one of the top five most added albums that summer and landed in the top 30 in national radio trade magazines for more than ten weeks straight. XM Radio, Music Choice, DMX and hundreds of commercial Active Rock stations praised the album's brilliance in the hard rock genre. Brave World & Bloody Knuckles called it "much needed credibility for the current metal genre." It seemed there was no stopping the band on their rise to the top...until January of 2004 when singer Ryan Taylor was the only member left standing after his bandmates decided they weren't cut out for heavy touring. This devastating blow left Ryan to quickly rebuild the band in order to keep the favorable hype going. "We had already been approcahed by a few labels who wanted to sign us and release the album worldwide." One of those labels was Reality Entertainment (Godhead, Krokus, Freakhouse). Ryan couldn't pass up such an offer, so, animal instinct took over and within two months Ryan had found himself the ultimate band to keep Slavemachine alive. Guitarists Rod Young and Thomas Wise joined the rhythm team of bassist Kevin Reeves and drummer Mike Porrazzo to bring the new fire to the band that Ryan was looking for. "We were all fans of Slavemachine before we had even met Ryan," says bassist Kevin Reeves. "Now that we're a part of it...the level of enthusiasm is just unbelievable!" Produced by Jam Pain Society mastermind Chris Hill and mastered by the legendary Bob Stone, "Disfigured Consciousness" has now been released worldwide through Reality Entertainment. "It's a whole rebirth for the band and I couldn't be happier with the fact that the world will now get to hear this great album for the first time," says Ryan. "This is the best band I've ever had the opportunity to work with and I know that once people hear thhis album, they'll be blown away. I know how it is to be the guy on the other side of the counter buying an album from a new band that I know nothing about and then being torn to shreds by how good it is when I get it home and listen to it. I think that "Disfigured Consciousness" is one of those albums that will do that for other people. Hell, it trips me out to no end that I am as much a fan of my own band as I am the singer," Ryan laughs. http://www.slavemachine.com |
