DEAD TO FALL |

Victory Records currently hosts the most impressive lineup of hardcore
bands on any one label. While Dead To Fall is a newcomer to the label,
their sound is that of seasoned pros. Trendy "melodic hardcore" (also
known as "emo-core" or "screamo") has taken the main stage in recent
months, threatening the reputations of real punk- and metal-influenced
hardcore bands. Dead To Fall kicks all that in the teeth, proving that
there is still a place in the world for driving, brutal music. There's
nothing pretty about this band. It's no-shit pounding, growling, and
scathing Nordic-influenced riffs from beginning to end. Their intensity
is to be admired. However, listening to the whole record at once is
ultimately tiresome and unfulfilling. A couple of the tracks have some
simply beautiful classical guitar work (a la old-school Metallica). Fans
of Darkest Hour, At The Gates, and Living Sacrifice would probably dig
this. Try "Eternal Gates Of Hell" and "The Balance Theory" on for
size. if you dare.
