MVM Album:

"Revolver"

by Beca Marshall

When I first looked at this CD, there were four young guys on the inlay behind the CD. The one up front has dreadlocks and the other ones were hard to see. Before putting in the CD I just thought that I couldn't stand one more rap metal band. But what a surprise! The opening song "What Did We Do" kicks in with a heavy industrial vibe. It was reminded me of Ministry which is definitely cool. Then the vocals came in and they too were heavy and energy driven. This track seems to set the pace for the rest of the album. MVM combines the energy of a hardcore band with an industrial flavor. What separates MVM from the rest of the crowd though is the sheer energy and the ambient/electronic music thrown in and not to mention drummer Chad Anthony is definitely a standout on a lot of the songs. Track five "Turning Gray" is a ballad-esque song, without being sappy, and sort of has a "Tears for Fears" feel to it. "Find My Way" is another stand out song on the CD. This is a pure heartfelt ballad featuring basically vocals and an acoustic guitar. It shows a whole different side of MVM musically. Overall, "System Shock" is the one song to listen to if you only have time to listen to one. This song pretty much sums up what the album is about, heavy music with ambient accents and 150% energy.
