Naglfar

"Sheol"

(Century Media)

by Martha Hughes

From Sweden's dark, cold north, Naglfar is finally making a name for themselves. This is the best of the band's three albums by far. The growth and maturity on Sheol is outstanding. The group goes back to more melodic roots on Sheol. But don't misunderstand me. This isn't a light CD. Far from it. It retains the intense black/death metal mix Naglfar is known for, while adding in better songwriting and better riffs. It is one of the best CDs of the year and anyone into a heavier, fast sound would do well by picking this up when it's available in your area.
