Dark Illusion"Beyond The Shadows" Dark Illusion are a band that go back a ways. To the early '80's actually. They formed in 1982 in Stockholm, Sweden. A teenage power metal group. They punched out a couple demos and did a bit of touring around before calling it quits in '85. So comes the year 2003, I think it was that Hultqvist and Tengblad decide to start things back up. There were a couple of demo tracks that caught some attention and led the two who never strayed from the metal scene to regroup and record a full-length. I don't know what songs are originals from back in the day and which songs were written recently and I don't really care. This is a great album. And that's all anyone really needs to care about. Not much else to say about that. A great sounding album with a superb group of musicians. Why they waited almost 20 years to release their debut album is way beyond me. We better not have to wait that long for their sophomore effort. I bet if they would have stuck it out back in the early '80s, they'd still be around and a powerhouse to boot. Although if they sounded half as good then as they do now, they were probably a little bit before their time. You all know how the industry works. So Hammerfall, Nocturnal Rites, Savatage, Thunderstone and Fifth Angel fans jump up and shout. You've got a new favorite on your hands. And they go by Dark Illusion. |
