Dragonforce"Inhuman Rampage" Step back Jack...DragonForce are back! And boy are they breathing some major fire! This is their third album and possibly their best yet. DragonForce play melodic power metal in the vein of Helloween, Gamma Ray, Stratovarius, and Blind Guardian. They do it very well and very fast! Each song goes full throttle all the way (except for the ballad "The Trail Of Broken Hearts" which closes out the album), faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive! Kind of like Stratovarius on speed, but packing a harder punch. The Force are also very technically skilled, playing with a great deal of proficiency. Guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman can really shred, and play each note down to a T. Both are brilliant players who could give many a guitar heroes a run for their money! Just about every song has extended guitar solos, long and fast, so there is plenty of time to hear what these guitar wizards have to offer. Singer ZP Theart has a strong, powerful, operatic voice, similar to Joacim Cans or Timo Kolpetti, while drummer David Macintosh plays so fast, his playing verges on death metal-style blast beats at times. He, too, plays with a lot of skill. This could arguably be considered the ultimate power metal album. Everything that makes a power metal album great is on here-Speed, skill, talent, melody, intelligence, anthems, influence from the old school metal masters, only DragonForce take all of these things and multiply them by ten! This is a dream for any power metal maniac. DragonForce are a force to be reckoned with, and could very well be the new face of power metal, destined to take it into the future. |
