Catch 22"Awaken" Want to hear some REAL METAL? Then check out Catch 22! They play pure, uncorrupted, classic, old school style metal the way it was meant to be played! And these guys do a damn good job of it! They are influenced by the masters of the genre like Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, Slayer (and 80s thrash in general), Queensryche, and Crimson Glory, but have a style that is their own. Led by TJ Berry, who sings lead and plays guitar, Catch 22 crank out some thunderous, kick ass metal tunes, like a steam train on steroids, pounding like a jackhammer, but their music also has some melody and sophistication. TJ plays a classical style guitar on many of the songs, they do a few epics on here (including a trilogy called "Where Darkness Is Divine", which rounds out the album), the songwriting is very good (TJ wrote all the songs), and TJ's voice has a number of octaves, from rough and aggressive, to smoother and more polished, to a Halford-style, high pitched wail! These guys sure know their stuff! They are a very talented band who give it everything they've got, playing with all their might! Catch 22 is a hell of a catch for anyone who likes good old fashioned heavy metal! |
