Kid Rock"Kid Rock" When people ask me what I think about Kid Rock, my response is always the same. He sucks and he only has one good song, which, in my opinion, is "Bawitdaba." However, after hearing this release, I may have to change my tune. Son of a bitch. I've gotta admit, this album is pretty damn good. Reminds me of Aerosmith when they were on crack. Kind of sleazy, bluesy, American rock 'n' roll with a tip of the hat to being an outlaw mixed with somewhat of a 70's feel and, of course, you've got the rap and scratchin' stuff that Kid Rock's been known to do. Damn...he's making it hard to not like his music now. There's a lot of good material on here such as "Rock 'N' Roll Pain Train," "Cadillac Pussy," which features Hank Williams Jr., "Black Bob" and the cover of "Feel Like Makin' Love." Some of this stuff, however, didn't quite float my boat. "Run Off To L.A." and "Hard Night For Sarah" are two that quickly come to mind. The bonus track, "Single Father," wasn't much of a bonus. This track, in my opinion, was just plain awful. It's a strong song on an emotional level. But, lyrically, now that's a different story. Nice message. But, come on, even a child could write something with more of an impact. All in all, I wouldn't say this release has made me a true believer. But, after hearing it, I have more respect for Kid Rock's talent....and I'm still rather fond of "Bawitdaba." |
