Anthrax"The Greater of Two Evils" Anthrax has not lost their edge or their roots. They still have balls and the devil horns in the air to blow your away with good metal. This CD is mainly a catalogue of old resurrected songs that have been rerecorded. The deliveries of these songs are much better than the originals. The first track "Deathrider," takes your breath away and brings you back to the old days of thrash. The heavy and fast guitar picking done by Rob Caggiano and Scott Ian is what Anthrax is all about. The fast and hard constant snare hitting drum beats executed by Charlie Benante sets the stage for what the whole CD has in store for you. "Indians," starts out with guitar harmonies and then blasts into an angry speed metal feel. It compliments the raspy angry vocals and lyrics serenaded by the one and only John Bush. He belts "We all see in black and white / When in comes to someone else's fight / No one ever gets involved / Everything can never be solved." The song "Madhouse," is a perfect depicture of Anthrax. It has simple, yet intricate crunchy guitar work mixed with melody lines. The chorus is a powerful wall of sound that goes into a killer guitar solo that is total metal. This release is outstanding. This band is all about their fans and even has liner notes written by actually fans, which I found very cool. It shows this band has a die hard fan base and will have many more with this new CD. This album is for anyone who listens to Anthrax and is curious to hear what old songs sound like brand spanking new. |
