ETERNA

"Terra Nova"

(Crash Music)

by: Jonathan Mariante

Eterna are a progressive metal band from Brazil, very influenced by Dream Theatre, as many progressive metal bands are these days, but these guys have a slightly harder edge than usual to their music, for a prog metal band, and also add a touch of more traditional sounding hard rock, a la Scorpions/Skid Row. Most of the songs on this album, such as "Mother Land", "Desert Moon", "Levitas", the title track, and "Da Pacem Domine", are in this vein. A couple of songs, "Working Man" and "Good Bye My Dear Ophelia", are full speed ahead gallopers, with more in common with European power metal bands, like Stratovarius and Heavenly, and one song, "Flight Recorder", has a Deep Purple/70's hard rock feel to it, complete with Hammond organ and all! These guys are a very good progressive metal band, who are talented and play and write very well. Their music has an edge to it that many other progressive metal bands seem to lack, and they have produced a good album here that should appeal to prog fans. website: http://www.eterna.com.br email:eterna@eterna.art.br
