Mad Margritt |

Formed in Georgia in the 1990's, Mad Margritt has quite an impressive
resume build up thus far. With "New Sensation" being their third release
and also having contributed to an AC/DC tribute compilation, this
foursome has polished their writing and recording skills well. The
production of this nine song disc is smooth and crisp with many of these
songs worthy of radio airplay. Bassist Steve Dietrich and drummer Danny
Belli together form a solid backbone for every one of these songs. With
apparent influence from the glam and rock bands of the earlier-90's, all
nine of the songs on this disc are all catchy. Lead vocalist Eddie Smith
belts out these tunes with a high-pitched clarity reminiscent of Warrant
and Poison. Though I've never seen these guys, I can tell they they'd be
the perfect starting act for some of the major groups they've already
opened up for, such as Ratt, Cinderella, Warrant, Slaughter, and Pretty
Boy Floyd, as well as many others. "Nothing Can Keep Me Away," "Midnight
Rendezvous," the Poison-ish sounding "Someone To Love" will all having
you singing along by the second chorus. The heartbreak tune of the disc,
"Can't Get Over You," dips into the familiar pangs of lost love that we
can all relate to. And ballad, "Believe," offers up the hope and
strength of true love. Highlights of this disc are: "Long Way From Home"
which has a more modern sound to it along with almost a very slight
southern rock sound and grit. And the acoustic "Sensations (Afterglow)"
where guitarist Davay Ray pours his heart and fingers into a classical
guitar sounding melody.
