RA

"From One Label"

(Universal Records)

by: Beca Marshall

Ra's single, "Do You Call My Name" is already being played all over NJ radio and I am positive that this will not be the only song off their album to be a hit. "From One" is an incredible album. After listening to it all the way through the first time I was so caught up in it I had to hear it again. The album features twelve tracks but it just isn't enough. "Do You Call My Name" is definitely the song with the catchy chorus (which is what makes it the first single). Then there is "Parole" which at times, vocally almost has an old Anthrax quality in the verses. All of the songs are incredibly up to date without sounding like everything else on the radio. Ra has managed to capture a modern sound while continuing to move music in a new direction. Vocally, there seems to be a little bit of Chris Cornell influence. Musically, the guitar work is powerful without being overly flashy and the song writing is tight. If this is where music for 2003 is heading, we are in for an awesome year.
