Ivory Knight"Unconscience" Ivory Knight gallops forward into battle at full speed, playing traditional/power metal, with dashes of speed/thrash, kept down to basics, in the vein of bands like Gamma Ray, Dragon Force, Fates Warning, and Kamelot. Just about all the songs charge at full speed, with speedy riffing and drumming, from Rob Gravelle and George Nesrallah, respectively. Vocalist John Devadsan Perinbam has a powerful, gutsy voice, sometimes wailing, sometimes growling, influenced by singers like John Arch, Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, and Midnight. The lyrics explore the darker side of things, rather than the D&D fantasy type themes that most other power metal bands deal with, although the closing track, the three part "Waiting For Tomorrow", does seem to encourage us to live life to its fullest. There are also some classical elements and keyboards in the Knights' music, but they only pop up in various places. Ivory Knight have a harder edge to their music than many other power metal bands, and they do it without sacrificing melody. These guys can certainly play very well, and are good songwriters. Annihilator's Jeff Waters mixed the album and he appears to have picked a winner here. Power metal fans should definitely get into this. |
