Ulysses Siren"Above The Ashes" Well I received this disk a few weeks ago. I was thrilled when I got it. Being from the Bay Area in the thrash hay day of the eighties, I was able to see Ulysses Siren live on several occasions. Upon trying to dig up some current info on the band has come up with zero. Seems their website is down at the time of writing this review. So I can't give any true accounts of what the band is up to, or any of the members as of late. This disk was recorded in 1985 and '88. Yes you guessed it right. Some releases. Well bring it on. Ulysses Siren were and are still legends of the Bay Area thrash metal scene. Perhaps even thrash metal throughout the globe. Ulysses Siren lived to get high, drunk, play music and fight. Their true "fuck off" attitude shows in the velocity of each track. The seven tracks on this disk all kick some serious ass. Unadulterated thrashing mayhem. Highly recommended for anyone even remotely into metal. This is classic thrash in the vein of early Vio-lence, Exodus, Testament, Overkill, and Potential Threat. 10 fuckin' plus here. Go get it. NOW!!! |
