God Dethroned
By Paul Hanson Vocalist/guitarist Henri sings, "Welcome to the lungs of hell/ Frost or fire, whatever you desire" in this CD's opening track. I'll tell you what I desire: a band that kicks out the riffs without regard to trends in the genre. God Dethroned is that band. I found this band refreshing. The liner notes include little glimpses into the band's thoughts. For example, "The Warcult" is a showcase for a death metal band with a groove and blast beats used sparingly. I even agree with the band when they say "This song shows us the stupidity of wars in general." Not Shakespeare, but there's a poetic quality to a simple statement like that. Who thinks war is good? Not even these guys. This is a powerful release with images of death |
