JOE C. WAILS
"Reign Dance"

(2002 HapiSkratch Records)

by Wayne Klinger

Been awhile since I really heard some good Blues/Rock/guitar-oriented music with balls since Chaz DePaolo, Saraceno, Firkins and Zaza. This 9-trackk CD mixes a variety of instrumentals as well as vocal tracks with more guitar-fueled songs; like in the day of icons Beck,SRV and B.B. King. The vocals range from Joey Hasselvander to the Griffin days of Pentagram in the mid-80's (now in Place Of Skulls with nw member Wino, who needs no intro). Just a mix musically with the mentioned above and somewhat of a "Stoner Rock" version of Mountain crossed with Zeppelin. No added fillers are in this recording either as far as anything mainstream; down-tuned rhythms and very emotional as well as aggressive soloing throughout; an awesome display of ear wax removal more than likely once you pop is baby in.
