NASTY IDOLS
"Best Of"

(Perris Records )

by: Jonathan Mariante

YEE HAW! Now this baby ROCKS! This is a smoking collection of the Idols' tunes, taken from three of their albums. These guys have been around since the 80's, but I'd never heard of them before, so I mistook them for a new band at first. Old or new, however, the Nasty Idols kick ass! They play 80's style hard/glam rock, akin to Motley, Skid Row, Poison, L.A. Guns and Hanoi Rocks, among others. Very raunchy, sleazy, and edgy, with tons of 'tude and testosterone! This CD rocks hard from start to finish, slowing down for only one ballad (an unnamed bonus track, so don't know the title), which has a country/blues feel to it, played "unplugged" on acoustic guitar, accompanied by harmonica. The other fourteen songs are all pedal to the metal rockers that pack a punch, and the guys can play, too. They're certainly not short on talent. In short, they're a very cool band, and anyone who likes 80's style hard rock/metal should get into this for sure. As I said, this Swedish band has existed since the 80's, but it's only now they've found their way to American shores. Too bad they didn't come along in the 80's, they surely would have hit big then. But better late than never. The music scene definitely needs a fire lit under its ass, and Nasty Idols are just the band for the job! They could sure wipe the floor with most bands that are big news today! So get a copy of this, and party like it's 1989 again!
