Alston

"Voodoo For Fun And Profit"
(Repossession Records)
by John Haseltine

After disbanding Primer 55 in 2002, guitarist/vocalist Kobie Jackson teamed up with guitarist/vocalist Ron Paige, bassist Alex Cando and drummer Woody Wurzburg to form Alston in 2003. Right away they inked a deal with Repossession Records. Repossession is really on to something here. Their melodic-hard rock sound is somewhat mesmerizing. The whole disk has a lot of depth to it. Great songwriting and musicianship. This band is ready for heavy rotation on the airwaves from one coast to the other. Every song on the disk is easily ten times better than most of the crap being played every ten minutes or so. Over and over again. An excellent debut from a great sounding band. For anyone into rock. Reminiscent to the sounds of Hoobastank, Trapt, Nickleback, Puddle Of Mud, Nonpoint. And many others. While having the likeness of these acts, they have a unique sound of their own. This is a band you have to check out. Ask for it by name at your local record store or head to one of the websites listed below for ordering information. If this is your genre of music, you will not be disappointed. I promise.
