Estee Louder"Ohio's Best" When Estee Louder came across my desk, it ended up being buried under a pile of other albums that I needed to write about. I was going through that pile today and, you know, I don't know how I missed this one, especially when you consider the fact that there's two naked women on the cover holdin' their hands over their boobs. I usually tend to notice stuff like that. I must be slippin' in my not so old age. Anyway, it was a cool release. It's a punk rock album. Raw, aggressive. It doesn't concern itself with perfection. I like that. Punk music isn't supposed to be all clean and polished. The crap that people call punk in this day and age isn't worth listening to. Throw that garbage out and give "Ohio's Best" a listen. Have a beer while you're at it. That's what this album should motive you to do anyway. Now, before you go getting the wrong idea here, this isn't straight forward, Ramones style punk we're talkin' about because, in my opinion, it has a rock 'n' roll/bar band kind of feel to it with the punk influence thrown in to give it some flavor and energy. My only complaint is that it doesn't even clock in at half an hour. I love the band. I love the album. Call me greedy if you want to, but, I want more....more, more, more. There's something special going on here and if you don't check it out, it's your loss. |
