Jizzy Pearl

"Vegas Must Die"
(Shrapnel)
by Paul Autry

I don't know why Jizzy Pearl has to go out on the road pretending to be Stephen Pearcy in a Ratt cover band when he can do so much better on his own. If you don't believe me, check out his current release, "Vegas Must Die." It's pretty impressive. But, I guess you'd have to have a feel for this kind of music to really enjoy it and, yes, this just happens to be the kind of music that I have a hard on for. Sleazy rock 'n' roll. In terms of style, think Guns 'N' Roses, Faster Pussycat or Jizzy's former band, Love/Hate. In fact, this brought back memories of "Black Out In The Red Room." That was a classic release and I would put "Vegas Must Die" up there with that one. What really caught me by suprise was the song "How'd I Get So Lonely," which was a nice acoustic song. The rockin' songs really trip my trigger...still do. But, this tune really caught my attention. It's worth the price of admission alone. Gettin' back into the swing of things, I really liked the slow heaviness of "Only Wait So Long." The opening track, "Hit & Miss," was a great way to get the ball rolling. Jizzy has that raspy vocal style and it really works well with this song. You know, I can't say that I've ever been a die hard Jizzy Pearl fan. My interest was more of a casual admiration. "Vegas Must Die" has me payin' more attention now. It's a great album that's well worth checkin' out. Don't pass it up.
