The Iron Maidens

by Jym Harris

First of all I'd like to say; as a kid I was a huge Maiden fan. This "all female" tribute CD covers material from the first half-dozen Iron Maiden albums, and aside from the music being spot-on, the vocals have incredible strengths as well. Songs like 'The Trooper', 'Wasted Years', and 'Run To The Hills' show chorus vocal harmonies that sound (dare I say) BETTER than the original versions! I know that doing these songs AT ALL is quite a task, but these gals actually do them justice! The only slight exception is that the song 'Killers' doesn't quite capture the sinister attribute of the Paul Dianno version, but is still impressive. With that said, their rendition of Phantom of the Opera is neck & neck with the Sentinel Beast version (also performed with female vocals). Anyway, until you get a chance to see their phenomenal live show, check this disc out at www.theironmaidens.com.
