CONQUEST |

Let the Conquest begin! Conquest sounds determined to conquer the world
of metal, going by how their music sounds! They're certainly out to
kick the world in the ass, playing raw, aggressive thrashpunkmetal, in
the vein of Biohazard, Pantera, and Anthrax, with touches of Black
Sabbath and Iron Maiden here and there, especially on the guitars.
Guitar duties are handled by Derek Brumley (also the lead vocalist) and
Mike Crook, who really shred, and play some killer solos, cranking out a
classic style twin guitar attack, combined with the speed, rawness, and
aggression of Biohazard style hardcore/punk. The whole album is a full
throttle thrash attack all the way, taking no prisoners and pulling no
punches. On the one hand, it reminds me of the good old days of thrash
metal, but on the other hand, it sounds right at home here in the Next
Millennium! If there's to be a thrash movement for this millennium, it
lies in the hands of bands like conquest. The first song on the album
is called "Annihilation Complete", and that's a good way to describe
their music; it's like a musical machine gun that will completely
annihilate your eardrums! This band is certainly a tight musical unit
who can play well. The disc also comes with some bonuses, including a
one song disc that contains a tune called "9/11 (No Mercy)". As the
titles suggests, this is a tribute to the victims of last year's Sept.
11 terrorist attacks, with lyrics that lash out at the terrorists who
attacked our country. The song itself is actually a slower number,
influenced by Black Sabbath, with a touch of Queensyrche, and features
voice samples of President Bush talking about the terrorist attacks. The
CD also contains a multimedia section, with a two song video, photos,
and a bio.
