I'm getting old! I remember this Death Metal d Grind phenomenon from Arkansas back when R.E.X. Records in Tennessee signed them and for a Christian band, they were one of the brutalest I've known since like Paramaceium and Vengeance Rising for that matter; there was others like Believer and Six Feet Deep of course but I'm just thrwing names out here without stalling. "Conceived In Fire" is going back to their older roots of the days when bands like Morta Skuld, Oppressor, Six Feet Deep and anythng remotely on Roadrunner and Century Media was king as far as intense, punishing heaviness with angst-ridden vocals. There was a couple albums that LS experimented with the Hardcore and Crossover thing and just wasn't catchng a vibe with me despite they were good offerings but when they write these type of Death Metal songs, they are just bar-none terrific and just throw out that lingering cloud of just because they are Christian, that they can't be as brutal or powerful with their music. I never was one to care about any band's lyrics. "Conceived.." is just another high-ranking achievement to add to their lengthy discography that spans over 10 years and oe band that I can truly say still sticks to their guns and makes consistently heavy albums.
