Jagermeister Music Tour 2003

October 28, Murat Theater, Indianapolis, IN
by John Haseltine

Tom Ah, Jagermeister and hard hitting metal. Who could ask for more? Few can, but that's not important right now. What is though is the long running tour which consists of SLAYER, HATEBREED and SWORN ENEMY. If you had a chance to catch it on the last go around, it was a treat. With the addition of Swedish metalers , ARCH ENEMY, it makes it all the more worth it to catch it again.

SWORN ENEMY hits the stage right on schedule. They belt out a few tunes to start things out which only lasts about fifteen minutes. As 'The Anthem's of Rebellion' wage on, here comes ARCH ENEMY. For the first time witnessing , I'd have to say they were flawless. With Angela's scorching vocals and the Amott brothers intricate solos, their six song set, comprising of such songs as 'Dead Eyes See No Future, We Will Rise , and Heart of Darkness', only left you (me) wanting more.

And out with HATEBREED. Blazing thru song after song filled with anger, betrayal, unity, injustice and struggle. HATEBREED are a great band and always give 110% live. Jasta and the guys were definatly on it. With an erie blue haze, the smoke starts to rise from the back of the stage. The intro 'God Hates Us All' can barely be heard over the chants SLAYER,,,,SLAYER,,,,SLAYER, from the 1800 to 2000 in attendance. The crowd sings over Araya's vocals during 'God Hates Us All', as well as many others of the evening. The bodies are flying, hitting the floor and being dragged around like marionettes in true SLAYER fashion.

SLAYER'S set consisted of many past and present favorites. From 'Hell Awaits, God Hates Us All, South Of Heaven', as well as others. SLAYER does what they do best. Prove that they're still the heaviest on the planet. Taking a few moments out to thank everyone for the past twenty years and a big hail to Jagermeister for making this tour possible. Finishing off the night with what I would call the ultimate encore. Song for song. One right after the other. The entire album of 'Reign in Blood'. So if you happen to be near a town hosting the Jagermeister Music Tour, featuring SLAYER, check it out. You won't be dissapointed.
