Dirty Rig: Under the Hoodby Don Sill
Yes, it takes a lot more then one pierced boob to shock Sebastian and his Dirty Rig mates. These beer chugging, blue-collar, head-bangers have been around the block more then a few times and aren't afraid to go against the grain themselves from time to time. "All I know is that certain things are left for certain things," adds Rig bassist, Buckshot. "Like if I went into a strip club and me and my buddies started throwing around a football, we'd probably get our asses thrown out." Don't worry, none of the members of Dirty Rig will be exposing their breasts any time soon, instead this Long Island based band is concentrating on their music and delivering there brand of southern metal to the masses. "Long Island is a strong scene and it is what it is, but it seems like everybody is trying to do what everybody else is doing and that's not what we're about," states Sebastian. "The four of us got together with the same big vision and it's real, it's true and honestly I could care less if we make our own scene or if we don't make our own scene, we're not trying to fit in with other people and other bands." "I think the Long Island scene has it's up and downs" adds Buckshot. "Like Good Times Magazine and WBAB and The Bone all support Long Island music and there is lot of media support, but as far as the bands supporting the scene? I think that's the problem." Buckshot goes on to explain that he hasn't seen enough unity within the circuit and that bands working against each other prevents the local scene from thriving up to it's potential. "There should be less snickering and back stabbing and more people helping and then you'll have a happening scene," he continued, "You gotta fight the war together, man- people win wars with numbers not by fighting three-million petty wars on one island." Dirty Rig know what they're talking about. Together for just over a year the four-piece have already garnered a steady buzz throughout the local scene and abroad. In the spirit of bands like Down and Black label Society the Rig has earned praise and kudos from fans, peers and critics alike and have shared the stage with everyone The Murderdolls to LA Guns. "A lot of these bands like our music and they ask us to do show with them," simply said bassist, Buckshot. "It's an honor for us." Now that the self-deprived sob-style of nu-metal has peaked Dirty Rig are set to infiltrate and bring the party vibe mentality back to the forefront with their hard-charging, guitar driven sound. "We're just blue-collar, get your hands dirty, rock n' roll," says Sebastian. "We like to start the party and get down with a good time." Their latest CD, "Blood, Sweat & Beer Make America Strong" is armed and loaded with six fist-thumping tracks that'll get audiences amped and pumped into party mode. Tracks such as "Alcohog", "Hitch Hiker" and "GTO" deliver the goods with a fierce energy and lyrics that are as straight-ahead as the band themselves. "We're bringing back that old-school party vibe," raved Buckshot, "that's what we're all about. "We're drinking, the crowd is drinking, chicks are showing their titties and it's just beautiful." Rounded out with drummer Dave Ardolina and guitarist Chas Banellis the Rig are denting the market. "Our video for 'GTO' is gonna be picked up by Headbangers Ball and the Uranium show on the Fuse network," gleamed Buckshot. Dirty Rig also had the number one most added record in the country and are placed at #27 on the rock radio charts. "Man, we're real excited about things these days." Aside from boobs and beer Dirty Rig are socially aware as well and in these times of war and terror they are more then happy to throw their two-cents into the fray. "Bullets are cheaper then bread, dude," bluntly says Buchshot. "I say if you mess with the United States then you need to get bitch slapped. We're the super power of the whole world, man and these people are just retards, dude. I hate to use the word 'savages' but they are and they just act like assholes. Like a mosquito, if it's buzzing around your ear you just smack it, man." "We finally have a leader whose leading and that's something we haven't had in a long time," proudly added Sebastian. "Bush stands up for what's right and I wish he could just be our president forever." "There's a lack of patriotism in this country and that really burns me," snapped Buckshot. "People don't want to support and whatever.I mean we had two buildings fall down in NYC because some assholes flew that plane into them and these people almost forget about that. We have to deal with this and I just don't understand why people bitch, moan and groan about it. All I know is that if one of these liberal's gets into office we'll be wearing turbans and speaking Iraqi." "Like with Janet Jackson, the bottom line is that this is America and she was able to do it," adds Sebastian. "That's why this is the greatest country in the world because Janet would have her hands cut off if she did that in the middle east and here, in America, her album will probably go to number one."
