Motley Crue You wanted the best, you got the best! The hottest band in the world...MOTLEY CRUE! Yeah, that's right. Fuck the "Psycho Circus," there's a much better party in town...and it's being thrown by the original rock 'n' roll bad boys. This is what they should've been doing for the past ten fuckin' years. Television shows, porno videos, line up changes, experimental and greatest hits albums, solo/side projects...fuck all that. I grew up on Motley Crue. Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll...that's what it was all about for me. From "Too Fast For Love" to "Decade Of Decadence," there were many lessons to be learned and took it all in. After watchin' "Carnival Of Sins," three times as of this write up, I was sure of one thing...this is the Motley Crue that warped my fuckin' mind. It's great to see 'em back in action once again. The stage show is presented as a carnival gone wrong...a little madness under the big top. They've got psychotic clowns, beautiful...and sometimes strange...women, smoke, fire...even a midget. They've managed to create a twisted, rock 'n' roll extravaganza. Clearly, they went that extra mile for the people who paid good money to come and see 'em. The same can be said about the set list. Before I tell you what they did do, let me tell you what they didn't do. They didn't do anything from the album that was done with John Corabi, which is a good thing. Although it would have been nice to see Vince perform "Hooligan's Holiday," which was the only good tune from that release. Nothing from "New Tattoo," which was a shame. Some of those tunes would've worked well with this show. For those of you who are paying close attention, there is somewhat of an order to the performance. The first seven tunes are taken from Motley Crue's first two releases. You're treated to "Shout At The Devil," "Too Fast For Love," "Ten Seconds To Love," "Red Hot," "On With The Show," "Too Young To Fall In Love" and "Looks That Kill." Now you get your first dose of "Theatre Of Pain" by way of "Louder Than Hell" and, before they close the chapter on the early part of their career, they tear into a rippin' version of "Live Wire." Next up, we get "Girls, Girls, Girls," "Wild Side," "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)" and "Primal Scream." At this point in the show, Motley Crue decides to mellow out a bit. They tone it down with "Glitter," the only tune from the "Generation Swine" album that's featured here, "Without You" and "Home Sweet Home." Nikki Sixx goes into his solo, which is probably the musical equal to Armageddon. Nikki's fuckin' insane...you've gotta see it to believe it. "Dr. Feelgood" is up next and then Tommy Lee, who's all painted up like some evil cartoon character...kind of reminds me of Jack Nicholson as The Joker in the first Batman movie...he goes into an amazing drum solo...and he "flies." Yeah...he's another crazy fucker. His performance leads into "Same Ol' Situation." Tommy Lee and a video camera. We all know what happens when you put those two together. Nah...he's not gettin' some new footage of his monster hog. But, he does get a lot of the women in the audience to share their tits with the rest of us. Tommy Lee loves those titties...that's for sure....and, lucky us, we get to go along for the ride. However...man does not live by titties alone. So, to get back into the swing of things, they rip into two new tunes, "Sick Love Song" and "If I Die Tomorrow." Finally...they're not gonna let you go until they drain every ounce of energy out of you...and they do so with "Kickstart My Heart," "Helter Skelter," and "Anarchy In The UK." That's it...it's done...it's over. Make no mistake about it, you have just witnessed the greatest show on earth. Yeah, there's some other suprises during their performance. But, I don't wanna give it all away because I don't wanna take anything away from it. If you know what's coming, it won't be any fun. Believe me...you'll need to view this release a number of times to take it all in. The bonus features come on a second disc. You get a documentary that takes you inside the show, you get to see a meet 'n' greet, a promo for "Disaster! The Movie," which looks like it will appeal to people who dig stuff like South Park. Can't wait to see that one. You also get to see the video for "Sick Love Song" and "If I Die Tomorrow." Oh, there's one more thing...more titties. Did I forget to mention the foldout poster? Yeah, I guess I did...there's one of those in here as well. Motley Crue went all out on this release. They made sure it was worth picking up. So, be sure to check it out...and enjoy the fuckin' show!!! |
