UFO This DVD is a retrospective of one of hard rock's all time great bands, UFO. They were very influential on hard rock and metal of the 80s (and beyond), but were also very underrated, and never got all the props they deserved. Featuring the powerful vocals of Phil Mogg and the amazing guitar work of Micheal Schenker (for what many consider the best and most important part of their career), UFO certainly deserved to be up their with bands like Zeppelin and Sabbath. UFO were also a unique band with a style that was all their own, and were also a bit ahead of their time, which may be one reason why they weren't totally appreciated in their time. In any case, "Too Hot..." features several live performances of the bands best known songs, including "Lights Out", "This Kids", "Too Hot To Handle", "Love To Love", "Doctor Doctor", "Rock Bottom", and "Let It Roll". They dug deep into the archives for most of these, and they go way back into the band's past. Most appear to be performances for British and European TV (one is from "Old Grey Whistle Test"). Many of them feature the classic Mogg/Schenker/Way lineup, but some are from after Mike left the band, and he was replaced by Paul Chapman and Neil Carter, thus making UFO a dual guitar band. Many people, including the members of UFO, feel the chemistry was lacking without Micheal. Between the performances are interviews with Phil, Pete, and Mike, where they talk about UFO's history and tell stories from the band's deep, dark past. Also featured are Iron Maiden's Steve Harris and members of Def Leppard, discussing the influence and impact UFO had on their musical careers and personal lives. UFO are still flying today, and countless bands and artists site them as on influence. This DVD is very enjoyable and interesting look at the band's history and a chance to see some of the band's live performances which have never been released on video before. They are all very cool, and UFO is rockin', as always. |
