Yngwie J. Malmsteen
"Concerto Suite For Electric Guitar and Orchestra"
(Eagle Rock Entertainment)
by John Hazeltine

No matter what genre of rock, metal and beyond you may be into, it's one thing for sure, everybody knows who Yngwie is. Well they should. I mean, how can you not know one of the greatest guitarists to ever grace the recording world. Whatever differences on a personal level or musical, Yngwie is by far one of the greatest. All you have to do is listen to him play and that's the seller. On this DVD he is playing with The New Japan Philharmonic. He completely composed this concerto specifically for an orchestra with his guitar as the lead instrument. He has only performed this with the orchestra seven times. The 18 compositions on the DVD were filmed over two shows in Japan. What's cool is how well the performances blend together as one. Musically it is heard as it was recorded. Amazing. Stunning. Magnificent. This is an outstanding night out at the Symphony. The tracks are: "Black Star Overture, Trilogy Suite Op.5, Brothers, Icarus Dream Fanfare, Cavallino Rampante, Fugue, Prelude To April, Toccata, Andante, Sarabande, Allegro, Adagio, Vivace, Presto Vivance, Finale, Blitzkrieg, Far Beyond The Sun and Evil Eye". The New Japan Philharmonic did a superb job. Any musicians out there that have any doubts to how this is suppose to be done, this is your instruction book.
