The Michael Schenker Group I wouldn't consider myself a Michael Schenker fan because I'm really not too familiar with his body of work. I know a little bit about him and what he's done. He just wasn't an artist that I paid too much attention too because, let's face it, there's a lot of music out there and you can't keep up with what everybody's doing. However, this release will remain in my collection because it's pretty damn good. I'm not just talkin' about the music either. I'm talking about the whole package and the way it's presented. First of all, let's talk about the DVD. As I'm sure you can tell by the title, it's a live show...and what a show it is. As soon as the band hits the stage, you can tell that they're having fun and you, as a fan, get to join in because this release takes you right up on the stage with the band. The only thing better than watchin' this show is to see it in person. The band takes you through fourteen songs of pure rock and/or metal (whatever you wanna call it). Personally, I think it's a little bit of both. But, that's just me. Anyway, when you're done with the show, you can check out an in depth interview with Michael Schenker, which is really entertaining and informative. On top of that, there's also an audio CD that goes with it. If you're not in the mood to watch the show, you can simply pop the other disc into your stereo and crank it up. That's what I'm really diggin' on because I don't spend a whole lot of time in front of the television. Now if this whole DVD/CD thing is something that might interest you, I'd pick up a copy quick because t's limited to 3,000 copies. Hell, I wouldn't be suprised if they're already all gone because, as far as live albums go, this is one of the better ones that I've heard...at least as far as recent albums go...and I'm sure, with time, this one will rank up there with some of the all time greats. It's a worthy addition to any music collection. But, don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourself and I'm sure you'll agree with me. |
