Hard Vision

Testament
"Seen Between The Lines"
(Escapi)
by Paul Autry

As any Testament fan will tell you, "Seen Between The Lines" was first released on VHS back in 1991. It has remained on that soon to be forgotten format until somebody got the bright idea to release it on DVD. It seems to me that a lot of rock and metal video releases have yet to see the light of day on DVD and the only way you can find 'em is by goin' to the flea market or a used video store. Let's hope this is the start of something because, personally, I feel that anything a band does, regardless of how small or large it might have been should not be forgotten. When Testament released this video back in the day, it meant something to the people who were into the band and you know as well as I do that, no matter how well you take care of your VHS tapes, with time, they tend to crap out and you've gotta go buy another one...kind of like cassette tapes. So, here we are, fourteen years later and, of course, there's still people out there who are into Testament. There's probably a whole new generation of people who are into 'em as well and, for those people who just have to have everything, I'm sure there's quite a few of them who are still searchin' for this one. Well, the search is over because now it's on DVD for a whole new generation to discover and the older generation can finally upgrade their VHS version.

For those of you who need to refresh their memory, this release featured a blistering, six song live set which was recorded during their 1991 world tour, interview clips and a video for "Nobody's Fault," "Practice What You Preach," "Souls Of Black" and "The Legacy." There's also some bonus features...some clips of the band in Japan, a list of their albums and stuff like that. Once again, let's hope this is the start of something. I've got about twenty "classic" VHS tapes from various bands and I never watch 'em because...well...they're on VHS. Hopefully, one day, I'll be able to upgrade my entire collection. Until then, hey, I've got Testament in the DVD player and I'm a happy camper. Can you say the same?
