Fire For Effect

by Freddy Metal

Fire For Effect Fire For AEffect was assembled originally in the summer of 2005 as a 80's hair metal cover band just for fun. This was short lived and they began to write more brutal music. Their debut CD is a tribute to the United States Armed Forces. FFE is has been doing shows in the North Shore Massachusetts area.

How about the low-down such as how you guys formed the band & how long you have been together?

All of us have known each other since elementary school and have done various projects together going back to our early teens but this band as it is formed in June 2005. Matt Allison is currently not playing Guitar in the band right now but we hope to have him back soon.

In your own words describe your band's sound & influences?

Id have to say we have a straight forward sound and at times could be called thrashy. Our goal is just trying to be as in your face and offensive as possible. We all personally have separate influences but collectively we can all agree on the Slayer and Pantera as the biggest impact on how we sound.

Name some bands in which Fire For Effect has shared the stage & opened?

We have yet to get out on the road and play with a lot of bands but our show with DOMINATUS and EYE OF THE SUN recently was a great starting point for us and has given us a good amount of confidence for our upcoming shows.

Are you happy with the overall production of the Fire For Effect CD?

I produced and engineered it myself so I am happy with it but I know where I have to make improvements next time. Everyone in the band will be personally much better at their respective instruments and we plan on topping the effort of our debut.

What happening with your local scene in your local area & how does your band FFE fit in?

Even though minimal, Massachusetts has a metal scene and we are going to attempt to expose our music to every venue that will have us and hopefully play with some more bands with big fan bases. We would like to have respectable following at home before we go out on the road.

What's the long & short term plans as far as recording, writing ect?

I am constantly writing and trying stuff out at practice and Lombardi and Luke chip in with vocals to some of the songs I write. After we play a bulk of shows over the summer we plan on recording our second album and taking our time with it. As far as long term I hope to release a CD every two years after the next one.

Any gripes about the music industry?

I'm not a fan of the popular music scene but I'm not gonna piss and moan about it. Its our responsibility to get our music out there for potential fans to hear it. We aren't looking to be on MTV anytime soon, or would we want to be, we would like to just gain a loyal group of fans over the next couple years.

What's the band's long & short term goals as far as touring, recording, writing etc..?

- In the summer of '06 we plan on hitting the road playing shows down the east coast to Florida for 4 - 6 weeks. After this we will return to our studio and start the second album and plan the touring support for it next winter. I hope to at least play all over the U.S. and I know the rest of the guys would like to expand to the rest of the world, especially Europe because we have heard some great touring stories about going over there along with some horror stories.

What do you feel sets FFE apart from other Metal Acts?

We are very politically driven and we started this band initially in support of our friends and family members in the armed forces and of course for all of the men and women who serve this country and risks their lives for us. Musically we don't sound like anyone else but most people can definitely hear a mix of Pantera, Slayer, and BLS in all of our songs. Fire For Effect would like to follow in these bands foot steps because in our eyes these guys continue to run the show even if they aren't currently active.

Where do you see the band in 5 years?

I believe we will still be recording and playing shows and continuing to build upon our fan base. I don't want to predict our future any further than that.

Who would you like to tour with and why?

We would like to play with a numerous amount of groups with large fan bases because this will be beneficial to us. Even though every metal band aspires to share the stage with them and its not an easy gig to get I would have to Slayer would be the biggest band we could play with and personally would mean a great deal to all of us. One day I hope we have a large enough following to make this possible.

Any special ritual that you guys do before you hit the stage?

Drinking will probably become more and more a ritual.
