Welcome to Camp Tangleby Don Sill Log onto the Camp Tangle website and you'll see scrolling along the top of the page a unique phrase that reads, "If you could see the you that I see when I see you seeing me, you'd see yourself differently." Well now, thanks to the magic of film, it will be possible for you to see yourself seeing Camp Tangle with the release of the bands very first live DVD. Filmed this past February at Long Island hot spot, The Downtown, in Farmingdale, the local rockers are featured at their very best in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. "The DVD came out sick," raves Tangle's front man Greggory Golembiowski. "There was three different camera angles, It's just unbelievable. You really feel like you're at the show and they got great shots of the crowd and everything." With only two years under their belts, Camp Tangle have been busting their tails within the circuit and earning props along the way. Their efforts earned them a solid fan base all throughout the island and abroad with their dark, moody metal music. "A lot of work goes into this band and all four guys contribute equally," explains Golembiowski of Camp Tangle's chemistry. "We all love heavy music and we're just gonna bring it to the table, you know. Our version, our style." Originally called 'Rust,' Camp Tangle set out to prove to the locals that there is more to the LI music scene then cover bands and juke boxes. They also wanted to create a hard-edged style of metal that would be an answer to all of the pop-punk and emo that has been bubbling off the island. "It all begins with your thoughts," says Golembiowski., "so, we all get together and collaborate really well. It's like a science project, man. When you walk out of lab all of a sudden you have this creation." The creation is one of deep lyrics combined with furious passion and intensified soundscapes which pull listeners far within the Camp Tangle mind set. "You gotta be honest with what you're writing," continues the vocalist. "Look, if you're not being honest then people are gonna catch on. Being fake doesn't go anywhere. The bands that stick around are the bands that are true to themselves and play with their feelings." Camp Tangle- who also includes Andy Bergman, Ethan Schnepper and Anthony Soriano- demonstrate their pure metal prowess through tight drum beats, blaring guitar riffs, thumping bass lines and a strong, yet emotional stage presence. "A lot of people see me play on stage and think I turn into a monster or something," said Golembiowski with a bit of a laugh. "That's right, because it's a release, it's therapy for me. Man if I didn't have the music I'd probably be out there doing criminal minded things or something. [Laughs]." Luckily Golembiowski found music instead of a jail cell and is more than happy rocking crowds and now with the DVD he can see himself seeing you seeing him.or something like that. "What's good about this DVD is I get to watch it all from the other side. I get to see all the angles and I get to be the audience. Usually, on stage, I don't get that perspective." Along with the DVD, Camp Tangle plan to release a live CD as well, with a few new tracks included. "We want to make a whole new package with a CD and DVD." Says the singer, "We're doing this the whole nine yards." That said, Camp Tangle is hot right now and are working for that perfect record deal. When that may be? Who knows. One thing is for certain, they have the moxy, drive and talent to take it the next level. |
