Voice Of The Underground

PRESENTS

PLAYING METAL HEAVY AND HARD
TwelvePointHead

Twelve Point Head are new, without being nu-metal. Playing metal, heavy, and hard, with crunching guitar riffs and infectious drum patterns. They have turned away from shouting vocal lines, or rap-metal cross over type vocals, and have the quality singing voice of Justin Brett. TwelvePointHead also includes Guitarist: Graham Loyd, Keith Bradshaw: Electric Bass & last but not least Ross Baxter on Drums

How Long has the group been in existance?

About two years as TPH but Justin and Keith have been in bands together now for about ten years.

In your own words describe Twelvepointhead?s sound & influences:

Justin: We feel we have our own sound but the Incubus, Deftones, Korn influences are there for me however my vocal style isn?t like any of the front men in those bands. Graham: Again it?s a bit hard to pin down our sound more, so with the newer material we are writing, but my influences are Helmet, F.O.C., Paw, Post Hardcore and the first band I got into, Kraftwork. Name some bands with which You?ve shared the stage & opened for: Justin: We have opened for Motohead, Fun Loving Criminals, Impotent Sea Snakes, Saxon, Rose Tattoo, and The Almighty and played with Skindread, Vacant Stare and Janus Stark. In August we are on the bill of the Bloodstock festival appearing with Blind Guardian, Diamond Head and many more cool bands.

What is the current scene like in your area and how does your band fit in?

Graham: The local scene is really picking up. Its very punk-hardcore orientated and the fans are in the 14 to 20-age zone, which gives a lot of the shows a high energy feel. Our profile now is the best its ever been we are playing to full houses and, maybe because we are doing something a bit different to the rest, its helping us establish ourselves not just in the local area but country wide.

Where and in what studio did the production of ?Defaced? take place?

Graham: The album was recorded at Wired Studios, Reading, UK and remixed and re produced at the Cream Rooms, Hertfordshire, UK. We had the remix as the first mix was not right. The original album had twelve tracks but by the time we came around to the remix about three months had passed and some of the tracks just didn?t sound good enough to be put back.  We feel Rob at Cream did a good job in a short space of time and we will be recording with Cream again. What are the Band?s short and long term coals as regards touring, writing and recording etc? Graham: On the touring front in the short term we are playing some festivals in the UK this summer including the mentioned Blookstock, and our label are now working with some agencies looking to book us UK tours for September/October.  Long term, we want to play much more and give the fans better and better shows. Recording:  We are now writing material for a new album which we hope to have recorded by the end of this year and on the actual writing front the band are now writing the way we have always wanted to.  We write whatever we want no matter the style, although the newer material has defined our sound more than on the Defaced CD.  The closest I can say, if you?ve listened to the album, is more in the vein of the track ?Fallen? but heavier!

What would you say is your biggest gripe about the music industry?

Justin:  Being told by corporate publications who?s cool and who?s not ? its like they think metal fans have no idea and they need to be told without given a chance to check it out!

What led up to the signing deal with Killin Time records?

Justin: Well luckily, I knew one of the people in the company so our demo got to Keith, the Label Manager, he came to see us and made us their first signing.  They are a small label but they really are working hard on our behalf and they are looking to sign more acts which makes us feel like we are signed to a progressive company who have our best interests at heart.

When you look at the big picture, where do you see Twelve Point Head say, 5 years from now?

Graham: Well I would have to say I hope we will have moved on and become the band we know we can be: to be popular and hopefully inspire kids as we all were inspired ? AND ? have one hell of a good time and party till we drop!

Anything you wish to add?

Justin:  Check out ?DEFACED? - it really has got something for every one and the better it does the more money we have to record the next one. www.killintimerecords.co.uk
