Introduce your current line-up to our readers?
SEVEN 13 is comprised of Amanda Adams - piano, keyboards, Kenneth
Michael - Lead Vocals, Brian Verrochi - Bass, Backing Vocals, Mike
Burke
- Lead Guitar, and Lauren Doucette - Choreography, Dance.
How long has the group been in existance?
The history of SEVEN 13 stems back to 1997. Amanda Adams was seeking
an outlet for the numerous compositions she had compiled. Through the
addition of Ken, Brian, Mike, and Lauren, SEVEN 13 developed into an
complete entity.
In your own words describe your band's sound & influences?
Describing one's music always seems to be the toughest question to
answer, however, if we had to categorize our sound, I guess
Alternative/Progressive Rock with a darkwave edge would suffice as a
description.
Because so many influences touch each member of this organization, our
influences range from David Bowie, Metallica, Mozart, Bartok, Queen.
As you can see, a wide array of musical tastes brought to the table.
Name some bands in which you've shared the stage & opened?
We would have to say that the most memorable stages we've shared have
been with "VNV Nation" and "King's X." We're currently negotiating
our upcoming European tour so we look forward to many more exciting
experiences and stages to share.
Where & what studio did the production of Unleased take place ?
"Unleashed" was recorded and produced at "Renaissance Recording Studio"
located at 136 Arlington St., Boston, MA. Mr. David Lefkowitz and
"Oscar" assisted in our production of this project.
Who came up with the cool cover art ?
We are fortunate enough to have an excellent
graphic artist onboard. His name is Trace Campbell and his talents
have also been in charge of our website, www.seven13band.com. He
may be contacted at TraceLCampbell@aol.com.
Truly an artist.
What is the current scene like in your local area & how does your band
fit in?
Boston is a funny scene as far as music is concerned. There's not
much for anything "out of the norm." The "norm" for Boston would have
to be something that is very "safe." Thus, after making the local bar
scene, we graduated to performances throughout the US and now we're
ready for Europe and beyond.
What's the bands long & short term goals as far as touring, recording,
writeing ect ?
As mentioned earlier, we are currently focusing on our work throughout
Europe. We have been working with an agency from Detroit, MI and
their representative is flying up to Boston in July to help finalize
the
touring details.
As far as writing - we will always write whether it be under this
category or not. Writing is not necessarily a "goal" but a journey, a
gift, a necessity.
What would you say is your biggest gripe about the music industry?
What we are disappointed about in the music industry is that it has
become engulfed in it's own "machine." The days of artistry within
the largest labels are over. Everyone involved in that level fills a
mold, follows a rule.
We aren't necessarily interested in having a large label on our
music. Why would we pay a large company the lion's share off of our
music sales when we are doing what a large label would set out for
anyway? We have significant investors and our new agency has been in
the biz for over 30 years. Honestly, I see no need for a label to
stamp their name on our CD.
Has there been any label interest?
There
has been some offers but they were not acceptable to our terms. Large
labels like to find "hungry artists," however, we do not fit that
mold and will not sell out for a few pennies for a name that may or
may NOT benefit our journey. Large labels are notorious for shelfing
new artists and then where do they go? We will continue on our own
path which is definitely heading in the right direction without the
constrictions of the "industry."
Any thing you wish ad ?
